Ahody

See what's actually being read.

Exposure is only half the truth. Ahody Analytics doesn't just show which articles get clicks — it shows which ones get read, drive engagement, and bring readers back.

A single tracking snippet connects your site to Ahody. From there, the newsroom gets exposure, time on site, scroll depth and impact for every article — directly in the same system where the content is planned, produced and followed up. Built on Matomo Analytics and adapted for editorial work.

One tracking snippet. Then the data starts flowing.

Paste the tracking snippet into <head> on your site. It works regardless of CMS, framework or hosting, and requires no separate installation in the publishing system.

§ Why Ahody Analytics

Matomo measures. Ahody makes the data editorially useful.

Traditional analytics tools are often built for marketing, e-commerce and conversions. Ahody Analytics is built around the newsroom's core unit: the article.

Every published article is linked to its own traffic and engagement. The newsroom doesn't need to hunt for URLs, build manual segments, or switch between systems.

You see what reached many people, what actually got read, and which content deserves another chance.

You get advanced analytics without having to build your entire data infrastructure around Google.

Built for newsrooms

The analysis starts from articles, reach, reading and editorial decisions — not just generic website goals.

All in the same workflow

Follow your content's performance directly in Newsdesk, without switching between the CMS, an analytics tool and spreadsheets.

From data to action

See which articles should be promoted again, marketed more widely, followed up on, or reworked.

§ Press subsidies

Built on a measurement tool the Media Authority lists as approved.

Ahody Analytics is built on Matomo Analytics. Matomo is among the third-party web tools that Sweden's Press and Broadcasting Authority lists as approved in its guidance on media measurement.

That means the same measurement can be used for the newsroom's daily analysis and to produce traffic data for a press-subsidy application — without introducing another analytics system.

  • visitors in Sweden
  • visits to editorial content
  • number of articles read per visit
  • defined time periods
  • exportable reports
  • documented filters and segments

§ How it works

From tracking snippet to editorial decision.

01

Connect your site

Add a single tracking snippet to your frontend. Works regardless of which CMS or publishing system you use.

02

Ahody links the data to your content

Visits, page views, time on site, scroll depth and traffic sources are linked to every article and compiled automatically.

03

The newsroom sees what's working

Everyone gets the same picture of an article's reach and engagement. The data can be used in daily news work, content planning and follow-ups.

04

Go from insight to action

Identify articles that should be promoted again, marketed more widely, followed up on or reworked — without leaving Newsdesk.

§ Content

Every article assessed in context.

Compare each article's exposure and engagement against the rest of the site's content over the same period.

Strong. Above the site median for both exposure and engagement.

Mixed. Strong in one area but weaker in the other.

Weak. Below the site median for both exposure and engagement.

§ Impact

A click isn't the same as impact.

An article can get plenty of clicks without being read. Another can reach fewer people but get almost all of them to stay.

Ahody plots exposure and engagement on the same chart. That way, the newsroom sees not just which headlines drew attention, but which content actually held the audience.

How to read this chart

  • Right: more people engaged with the article.
  • Up: readers stayed longer.
  • Point size: number of unique readers.

Point size = number of unique readers.

Exposure — page views →

Major impact

Many found the article and stayed. Promote it again, follow up on the topic, or use it as a starting point for similar journalism.

Hidden gem

The people who found it engaged with it, but reach was limited. The content holds up — distribution could improve.

Quick clicks

The article reached many, but readers stayed briefly. Check whether the headline, intro and article deliver on the same promise.

Needs rework

Limited reach and low measured engagement. Evaluate the topic, angle, headline, format and distribution.

The results shouldn't dictate what the newsroom publishes. They should provide a better basis for understanding how the journalism is received.

§ Privacy and control

Analytics without an ad platform in the middle.

Ahody Analytics is built on Matomo, an established analytics platform that supports privacy-conscious measurement and control over the data it collects.

The analytics data is used to deliver the service. It is not resold and is not used to build external ad profiles.

Like all web traffic, a visitor's IP address technically reaches our measurement server the instant they connect — that's simply how the internet works. We use it for exactly one thing: determining which country the visitor is in, among other things for the press-subsidy requirement of visitors in Sweden. Before the visit is stored, the address is masked — the last two octets are zeroed out — so no full IP address is ever stored or can be reconstructed. The masked address is shared by tens of thousands of households and doesn't identify an individual.

The tracking snippet is hosted in Sweden, and data collection happens from Swedish servers. Ahody Analytics runs entirely without cookies, Matomo can recognize visits without setting a tracking cookie, which for most sites means the measurement itself doesn't require cookie consent.

One tracking snippet. Your whole newsroom's decision-making.
